Insulation rolls
Mineral wool insulation rolls are a versatile solution to help deliver thermal and acoustic performance
Made to fit various metal, joist and timber stud centre widths, mineral wool insulation rolls are flexible, meaning they can be installed in many commercial and residential areas, from attic loft floors to internal partitions. A roll of insulation is usually less dense (in kg/m3) than batts or slabs, which means it can be more flexible and malleable to install, suiting applications such as lofts at joist level or internal walls and partitions.
Take a closer look at the benefits of insulation rolls
There are advantages to choosing mineral wool insulation rolls. Like other insulation formats, they help to protect against heat loss and reduce noise transmission within buildings – but the flexible rolls makes them ideal for rolling out in between joists in crawl areas, or in timber and steel studs. Let’s look at the core elements.
Ease of install
When manufactured as rolls, mineral wool is straightforward to handle, cut and install. For example, our Spacesaver range comes in pre-perforated rolls and is more flexible than batt and slab alternatives. These rolls are designed to be compatible with recommended spacings for a variety of applications.
Use in multi-applications
Mineral wool insulation rolls can provide insulation solutions for a wide range of applications within the building and construction industry. For example, internal wall partitions, floors and roofs at joist level.
Thermal insulation
The small pockets within the mineral wool structure trap air, which is a poor conductor of heat, and significantly reduces heat transfer, making mineral wool an effective thermal insulator. Used as part a system to provide thermal insulation, mineral wool can help to improve thermal efficiency and reduce overall energy costs
Acoustic performance
The non-continuous structure of the glass fibres that make up glass mineral wool impede the passage of sound. This can be used in systems to reduce airborne sound transmission and improve acoustic insulation when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s system installation guidance. For our system information, please refer to the British Gypsum White Book specification selector.
