According to the Timber Frame Association, 194,200 new house starts are predicted to use the material this year and the sector has a potential to reach 32.4 per cent of the UK housing market share by 2018.
Using timber frame in builds can help improve the turnaround time of a project as well as reduce its overall environmental impact. Increasing energy efficiency in these buildings is an important part of what we do at Isover. This is why we’ve created our Timber Frame (TF) Roll 32 range, which is specifically designed to boost thermal comfort and energy efficiency in timber frame applications.
The product is made using our high performance mineral wool, which supports specifiers in meeting U-Value requirements for UK properties. Building regulations in Scotland require all external walls of new dwellings to have a maximum U-Value of 0.22 W/m²K. TF Roll 32 has been developed to help exceed these regulations, as well as the equivalent requirements for external walls in England and Wales.
Rolls are available in 140mm and 90mm thicknesses to suit common timber frame stud depths. It’s very easy to install and there isn’t much cutting required during the job, saving our customers time and money.
The TF Roll 32 range is pre-cut to 580mm wide and can be pushed into place without the need for additional fixings in applications with studs at 600mm centres. Because our product comes as a roll, it can be installed ceiling to floor in a single drop with just one cut.
Once installed in a property, glass mineral wool insulation can last for decades. Throughout this time, it has the potential to save building owners thousands of pounds in energy bills. Cutting down on energy consumption is, of course, extremely important for occupants, but it’s also good for our economy in general. It’s estimated that by being more energy efficient, the UK could save an incredible £12 billion every year!
So, if you need to boost occupant comfort and energy efficiency levels in timber frame properties where lower U-Values and higher thermal performance are required, our TF Roll 32 is the solution for you. See here for more information.
